Chair of Accounting
Our aim is to provide research and training for strengthening Polish enterprises in the international market. Our faculty specialise in a range of accounting disciplines. The knowledge of accounting practice and experience in real-life business situations distinguish our faculty members. It is through a combination of academic skills and practical experience that we are able to offer our students quality education for their future careers.
The Chair of accounting offers specialisations for majors in accounting, management accounting and in auditing, as well as diploma seminars. The Chair also oversees bachelor and master level programmes in finance and accounting, offered in either English or Polish. We are active in professional organisations, such as Polish Accounting Association, European Accounting Association, Polrisk, European Finance Association, CFA Institute, Association of Information Systems.

News
- 6 October 2011 - the conference on intellectual capital organized by EIASM, Kozminski University and the University of Ferrara has just finished. This attempt to bring together representatives of various disciplines turned out to be a success. Everybody is welcome to read papers on the EIASM site and participate in next year edition.
- 20 June 2011 - Karol M. Klimczak's paper Market reaction to mandatory IFRS adoption: Evidence from Poland, has just been accepted for publication in the Journal of Accounting and Management Information Systems.
- 1 May 2011 - our department is proud to invite all students and researchers of intellectual capital to an interdisciplinary, pan-European conferences. On September 29-30 we will host the 7th Interdisciplinary EIASM Workshop on Intangibles, Intellectual Capital and Extra-Financial Information . In the week heading up to the conference we invite Ph.D. students to the doctoral seminar.
- 20 April 2011 - prof. Dorota Dobija, dr Karol M. Klimczak and mgr Jeroen van Raak have presented papers at the largest accounting event in Europe, the 34th Congress of the European Accounting Association.
- 5 November 2010 - Aneta Hryckiewicz has published a paper in Emerging Markets Review. The paper titled "The Economic Determinants and Entry Modes of Foreign Bank into Central Europe" is the result of her research conducted with Oskar Kowalewski.
- 30 September 2010 - our Chair has been chosen to organize the next EIASM Workshop on Intangibles. We will also host the EDEN Doctoral Seminar on the same topic that precedes the conference. Both events will take place at the end of September 2011.
- 1 September 2010 - KU opens a new executive programme in Accounting and Finance for Audit Committee Members. This unique programme has been created with the cooperation of the Polish Institute of Directors and the Association of Publicly Listed Companies to offer board members an opportunity to learn the skills necessary under their new responsibilities.
- 1 September 2010 - KU opens a new executive programme in Internal Audit organised together with Ernst & Young Academy of Business. This programme is currently the top quality option for professionals interested in developing careers in internal audit, both in the private and public sector.
- 23 August 2010 - Our faculty members have already presented ten TV programmes about finance and accounting. These programmes air weekly on TVN CNBS Biznes Lunch.
- 12-15 August 2010 - dr Karol Marek Klimczak presented a research paper at AMCIS 2010 Conference in Lima. The paper presents results of research into market reaction to IT investments by listed companies. The project team is: prof. Dorota Dobija, dr Karol M. Klimczak, Roland Weistroffer (VCU), Narcyz Roztocki (SNP).
- 18 July 2010 - a research article by prof. Dorota Dobija and dr Karol Marek Klimczak has been accepted for publication in The International Journal of Accounting. The article "Development of accounting in Poland: Market efficiency and the value relevance of reported earnings" deals with the interactions between accounting regulation and the development of the capital market in Poland.
- 12 June 2010 - Koźmiński Center for Corporate Governance, where some of our faculty members are affiliated, has organised an international conference A Report on Corporate Governance, which took place on June 10-11 in Warsaw.
